Nylon (PA)

Nylon's key properties include outstanding wear and abrasion resistance, along with good impact, chemical, and temperature resistance. It is available in a large number of extruded and cast grades.

  • Nylon 101
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Natural Color
    Of all the unmodified nylons, Nylon 101 is the strongest, most rigid and has one of the highest melting points. It is commonly specified for screw machined electrical insulators and food contact parts. Other colors are available on a custom basis. Nylon 101 is FDA, USDA, NSF, and 3A-Dairy compliant.   • Nylatron GS
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Natural Color
    Molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) filled nylon offering improved strength and rigidity. With a lower coefficient of linear thermal expansion than Nylon 101, Nylatron GS parts maintain better fit and clearances, and have less tendency to seize as bearings.

  • Nylatron GSM
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    Nylatron GSM PA6 contains finely divided particles of molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) to enhance its load bearing capabilities while maintaining the impact resistance inherent to nylon. It is the most commonly used grade for gears, sheaves, sprockets and custom parts. It is grey-black in color.

  • Nylatron GSM Blue
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Blue Color
    The first cast nylon to combine both molybdenum disulphid (MoS) and oil for the load capacity of Nylatron GSM PA6, plus improved frictional characteristics. It excels in higher pressures, and at low speeds-up to 40 fpm. It offers 20% lower coefficient of friction, 50% greater limiting PV, and a lower "k" factor than Nylatron GSM PA6, making it ideal for slide pads, thrust washers and trunion bearings. Nylatron GSM Blue PA6 should be considered for any oil-filled nylon application. It is dark blue in color.

  • Nylatron NSM
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    Developed specifically for demanding applications, Nylatron NSM outperforms all other "premium" wear grade materials by far. Ideal for bearings and wear pads, Nylatron NSM offers advantages beyond superior wear resistance at an affordable price. It provides weight and noise reduction, corrosion resistance, and easy machining. With less downtime and reduced maintenance, save time and money by realizing the increased performance and productivity of this self-lubricating nylon.

  • Nylatron MC901
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Blue Color
    Heat stabilized nylon offering long-term thermal stability to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. It is blue in color and used in a variety of bearing and structural applications such as wheels, gears, and custom parts.

  • Nylatron MC907
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    Unmodified type 6 nylon offering the highest strength and hardness of the nylon 6 grades. MC 907 natural is FDA, USDA and 3A-Dairy compliant. It is off-white and primarily used for food contact parts.

  • Nylatron GF30
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Natural Color
    For applications requiring higher compressive strength and rigidity, 30% glass reinforced Nylon 6/6 is also available. It is stocked in diameters ranging from 10mm to 150mm (or .394" to 5.910" in meter lengths).

  • Nylatron LIG
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    Nylatron LIG combines the toughness of cast PA6 with an oil-based lubricant that is encapsulated within the nylon matrix. It increases the load beariang performance of the material when compared to unfilled nylons and reduces the coefficient of friction. It is an ideal material for industrial application.

  • Nylatron 703XL
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    This ultra-high performance bearing grade of PA6 provides wear resistance near the levels of Nylatron NSM PA6 with superior load bearing capability and an industry first - a near zero level of "stick-slip." This elimination of chatter provides an extraordinary amount of control for high precision applications.

  • HYDLAR Z
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Tan Color
    HYDLAR possesses a combination of physical properties that cannot be found in any other commercially available engineered plastic. Design engineers have created a family of superior wear and abrasion resistant thermoplastics using aramid fiber reinforcement.

  • Nylatron 4.6
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Extruded Grade •Natural Color
    Offers superior heat aging and creep resistance and retention of stiffness up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. It is reddish brown in color and used where PA 6, PA 66, POM and PET fall short.

  • Nylatron LFG
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    Nylatron LFG PA6 takes the performance of Nylatron LIG PA6 and adds FDA compliance for appplications where food contact is possible. Food packaging and processing equipment users can now benefit from the benefits of this material.

  • Nylon 101 Black

Nylon has outstanding wear resistance and low frictional properties. It has very good temperature, chemical, and impact properties. However, nylon's one weakness is a propensity to absorb moisture and thus have poor dimensional stability.

  • TECAMID 66 Black

  • TECAMID GF30
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Grey Color
    TECAMID 6/6 GF30 is a 30% glass-fiber reinforced nylon 6/6 material whose important properties include high tensile and flexural strength, stiffness, excellent heat deflection temperature, and superior abrasion and wear resistance. While all TECAMID materials have high mechanical strength and superior resistance to wear and organic chemicals, TECAMID 6/6 GF30 has more than double the strength and stiffness of unreinforced nylons and a heat deflection temperature which approaches its melting point.

  • TECAMID MDS
    Polyamide 66 (PA66) • Extruded Grade •Grey Color
    Nylon is one of the most widely used and versatile thermoplastic resins. Its combination of physical properties versus its price makes it a favorite choice for numerous applications. Nylon has a consistent history of replacing other materials including: metal, brass, bronze, aluminum, and rubber. In replacing metal gears in machinery, nylon can be advantageous because of its ability to reduce noise, use less lubrication and increase gear life. TECAMID MDS is an extruded "moly" filled nylon 6/6, which is gray in color. The addition of particles of molybdenum disulfide enhances the surface lubricity and wear resistance over unfilled nylon. In applications requiring high lubricity, this material may be a good candidate. In addition to the greater lubricity there are many additional property enhancementsthat occur.

  • TECAST 6PA
    Polyamide 6 (PA6) • Cast Grade •Natural Color
    TECAST cast nylon, available in a variety of grades, offers a combination of good mechanical properties, excellent bearing and wear characteristics, and the large-size capabilities of the casting process. Its fatigue resistance, noise damping ability, corrosion resistance, and light weight make TECAST ideal for metal replacement applications, such as bearings, gears, sheaves, and sprockets. At one-eighth the weight of bronze, TECAST is easier to handle and maintain than metals such as iron, aluminum, brass, and bronze, which it typically replaces in industrial wear applications. Other materials that TECAST commonly replaces because of its superior performance are laminated phenolics, elastomers, and wood. TECAST has excellent wear and abrasion resistance, resulting in extended component life and lower maintenance cost. Its formulations are readily available in rod, plate, and tube. Nonstandard shapes, such as rings, discs, and blocks can be economically produced in small quantities with short lead times. Custom parts can be cast-to-size or near-net-shape with relatively inexpensive tooling.
